What is Project Graduation?

Each year, the Lahainaluna Project Graduation Committee, in conjunction with parents and community members, puts together a fun- filled event to honor our graduating seniors, while providing them a safe, drug-free, alcohol-free experience to remember. Students can spend one last time together with their classmates after graduation ceremonies conclude. Nationally, graduation night has been linked to higher rates of underage drinking and driving. The primary goal of Project Graduation is to keep our youth safe and celebrate their accomplishment.
Project Graduation provides the community with an opportunity to become involved with our high school through fundraising activities, donating, and volunteering to help with the planning and execution of the event. The community is provided with a safe alternative for its graduating seniors to celebrate their milestone in a drug-free, alcohol-free environment. 
Project Graduation reduces peer pressure to use drugs and alcohol, saves lives in producing fewer traffic fatalities for seniors, and relieves stress for parents upon graduation. Traffic crashes are still one of the leading causes of death for youth between 15 and 24 years of age. Youth between the ages of 16 and 20 are killed in traffic crashes at twice the rate of the general population. Project Graduation cuts down on the fatalities and accidents that happen due to underage drinking and driving. This ensures happier communities, as the loss of a child in a close-knit community has widespread affects on all its members.
